The copper gully
The gully, lined with copper leaves,
Succumbs at creeping edge
To laurel, waxy-leaved, and cedes
The scarp-edge to the sedge.
Fresh runnels, carving paths, divide
Coarse bracken into isles,
The primrose and the cowslip strive
To line the fresh defiles.
